Taunya Rutenbeck
LICENSED MASTERS SOCIAL WORKER
I am Taunya Rutenbeck, LMSW; a State of Kansas Licensed Masters Social Worker. I have Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work from Wichita State University. I provide individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents and adults with a wide range of presenting concerns. I utilize Accelerated Experiential –Dynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Theory, EMDR®, Imago Relationship Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Based Therapy. I continue my education in order to provide the most effective practice in working with clients.
I utilize the strengths perspective in working with individuals and families in therapy. The strengths perspective recognizes an individual’s strengths and abilities to cope with problems. It is used to enhance personal strengths and identify resources in development of skills to deal with presenting challenges. I like to help people better recognize their strengths and restructure their lives around those strengths in order to overcome difficult areas.
I have life experience relating to many issues that has provided me with a unique skill set in working with individuals with presenting challenges. This background has developed into a compassion that I now use to identify with and help clients. Starting as a volunteer in the community, my strengths and passion turned to the field of social work and mental health. I have a passion and purpose for serving this community as a mental health therapist, in having a positive effect on the well-being of individuals and communities.
I have lived in Wichita since 1976 and I am married with two adult children.
